Le Minh Hoan, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), has proposed developing an export market development strategy that incorporates the duties and responsibilities of management agencies. Hoan said trade promotion should be linked with tourist and cultural promotion to foster reciprocity among the agencies at a recent working session between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and delegates from Vietnamese trade offices abroad. In order to help domestic companies learn more about export markets, he suggested that the PM direct ministries and agencies to designate agricultural counsellors in important markets. The minister went on to say that in order to lower costs and risks, relevant associations needed to work closely together. He also mentioned that an export alliance would assist businesses become more competitive while participating in global supply chains.
